This music spoken word album features guest performances by national slam poets Bryonn Bain and Omoizele Okoawo. Black & Blues was produced by Francis Phan, who also produced Ayisha Knight's critically acclaimed CD "Until".

Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo (poet/performer) is a Nigerian-American poet/singer residing in the Boston area. She is the recipient of "Performance Poet of the Year" and "Slam Poet of the Year" for the 2003 Cambridge Poetry Awards. She won fourth place overall in the individual competition at the 2000 National Poetry Slam.

Iyeoka has been featured at the House of Blues in Boston, the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, and Avalon where she opened up for the hip-hop/soul recording artist Musiq Soulchild. Iyeoka was showcased in Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam airing on HBO and was a highlight on the late night CBS hip hop show The SOURCE ALL ACCESS.

Iyeoka was recently the featured poet for the Turner Broadcasting presentation of the 12th Annual Trumpet Awards Ceremony in January 2004. Her award-winning CD Some Nights-a spoken word and jazz mix presages the success of her new album, Black & Blues, produced by Francis Phan, and released in February 2004 by Phanai Records.
