FEATURED MAIL from my TriBe

I am unsure what sources others draw from for inspiration. But I am aware of what my spirit responds to. It responds to you and the positive energy you so courageously send my way. Like prayers, your message is received loud and clear. You remind me why I do this. I need you to know that I am listening and the empowerment I feel from your words is just as real as the experience that compelled you to actively reach out to me. I am grateful. These are some emails that I cut and pasted myself–encountering them made my day. Feel free to cut and paste, post on the comments space below.

Between You and Janna Graves
Janna Graves March 11 at 8:59am
I wanted to thank you for a wonderful experience, you brought emotional issues to music and poetry. As we meet in life I sometimes think, yes it was meant to be. Our connections are often so far reaching and our pain often shared. The poem you said your mother like most was beautiful, from the eyes of a child. It goes to show our perception is often not reality but felt as real.
You are a powerful poet and singer. Even my 84 year old father has talked about your life, spirit and performance, you have appeal to young and old alike.

Akili was also gifted and talented with a real ability to aid in the connection of your work to sound. He is multitalented and has a strong voice. I do not sing in public, but I did. I am a painter, a gift of the eye and hand but not the ear, but as one of your tribe members for last evening I gave it a whirl. He also had such a sense of when the audience needed to be lifted or carried. A great duo to capture the audience.
I wondered if at the conservatory Akili might have taught my friend Leslie Mulledy’s son Owen. You might look her up, she is real active in Art Associations on the south shore. (Leslie Barton Mulledy) Every connection is a good one.
My daughter is Teisha Twomey. She read a few of her poems before your performance. She has got the ear, hand and eye. My son the ear, the voice. He lives in San Diego.
The children’s paternal Grandma inspired them with a guitar in hand. Like your family I am proud of mine.
I really wanted to just say thank you, there is a reason for all things. Yes, we are always being tested and always finding a way to travel forward.
BRAVO. loved the outfit.
Janna

Hey Iyeoka!

My name is Sophie, I go to the Cambridge School of Weston and I can honestly say I was changed by your performance. The emotion you evoked in all of us with your extreme passion was truly mind blowing and inspiring on SO many different levels. I honestly feel changed, not only as a person, but as an artist.
You mentioned that you were a songwriter last Monday. I actually am too! It would mean the WORLD to me if you would take a listen to maybe two or three of the songs on my website and tell me what you think.
Thank you so much for being such an uplifting inspiration in my life,
Sophie Poe :)

just a thought for you this morning: keep yourself grounded through practice — yoga, talking to god, learning in a “practice/ritual” kind of way. people (audience) are far to flighty to use as your source. remember you are serving god and you are gifting us all with your presence and your journey. we love you and adore you, your gifts and brilliance, and what you ignite within our souls. but as you ascend (and i believe you will go supernova before too long) remember the source of all your gifts, and receive all this love you have coming from us to you. you deserve every bit of it, and we are graced by your love — don’t doubt it. and we love you too.
